Tyson Garnham reaches milestone with 100th game
Tyson Garnham shall blast his way into the Crusaders’ record books this Sunday with his 100th career game for the Western Crusaders.
Garnham, 27, commenced his football career back in 2007. This weekend shall see him be the youngest player in franchise history to reach that milestone when we meet the Geelong Buccaneers this Sunday.
In 2006 Tyson went with a friend to the Western Crusaders juniors’ first training because he needed a lift home. He joined in training with no intention of playing but enjoyed the game enough to come back and eventually commit to the season.
In his first junior season he played running back and the team had little success going up against older and more experienced players.
In 2007 Tyson moved up to seniors and earned a starting spot as a corner back and occasional wide receiver in a Western Crusaders team that went undefeated and won the Vic Bowl. Tyson tragically had to sit on the side line with a dislocated ankle for the only Vic Bowl win the Crusaders have achieved in his playing time.
Garnham, who has represented Victoria & Australia on several occasions, along with playing in Germany and most recently being selected to an NGL Franchise, isn’t looking past this weekend’s game.
A great achievement to one of Victoria’s and arguably Australia’s best players in American Football today.
